Victory Housing Trust works in partnership with Norfolk Credit Union to promote access to savings accounts, basic banking facilities and affordable credit.

Anyone who lives or works in Norfolk and is over 16 years of age can join Norfolk Credit Union.  Norfolk Credit Union also offers a young person’s savings scheme for those under the age of 16.

What can Norfolk Credit Union provide?

Savings

  • You can join Norfolk Credit Union and open a savings account for £1
  • Save when you can, whenever you can afford to
  • Save for Christmas, special occasions, holidays with dedicated “Lock-in” accounts
  • A dividend is paid on the amount of savings held and is paid annually, but these cannot be    guaranteed

Current Accounts

Norfolk Credit Union's Current Account offers a range of facilities including:

  • access to cash at any ATM machine in the LINK network
  • direct debits and standing orders use of a VISA debit card, and
  •  instant access to salaries/wages/benefits etc

Low Cost Loans for Any Purpose

The interest payable on a loan will be between 1% and 2% per month on the amount of the loan outstanding at the time. This translates to an APR of between 12.67 % and 26.8% per year, which compares very favourably with the interest rates charged by doorstep lenders such as Provident, Greenwoods etc.

The loan may be paid back early without any penalty or extra charges.

Oil Loans

Victory Housing Trust has worked closely with Norfolk Credit Union to ensure tenants are not left in the cold.  Rising fuel prices have made heating oil an expensive purchase for many Victory tenants, and oil companies require payment up front or on delivery.  Victory residents can apply to Norfolk Credit Union for a loan for part of their heating oil purchase, helping spread the cost of their heating.
