Repair Responsibilities

The responsibility for looking after your home is a joint one. We are responsible for most repairs but you are also responsible for some including:

  • Decorating the inside of your home
  • Keeping the inside and outside of your home clean and tidy
  • Some minor repairs
  • Fixing damage caused by members of your family and visitors

Every year we invest money in residents' homes to keep them in good condition and to improve them. Our decisions are based on the information we have about your home (e.g. when major work was last done), together with what you have told us and what our surveyors say about your home. We aim to carry out repairs quickly and efficiently and ensure that work is carried out with the minimum disruption.

The work to your property is delivered through modern partnering agreements with contractors. Our main contractor Jeakins Weir handle repairs, grounds maintenance, adaptations works, and the making good, updating and upgrading of empty properties. Jeakins Weir were appointed in 2010 using the “Competitive Dialogue’ Process, which puts residents at the heart of decision making.

It is important that you report a repair as soon as you notice it to help us take the appropriate action and keep homes in good order.
