You will no doubt be aware of the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower in London, which sadly resulted in significant loss of life.
We want to reassure you that Victory does not own or manage any high-rise blocks of flats, and all of our properties are within reach of a standard fire tender rescue ladder. Our tallest building is four storeys high, and the highest entry point to any of our properties is on the second floor.
None of our properties are clad with aluminium cladding. In common with all social housing providers, we are currently reviewing materials used where external cladding is fitted, to ensure the highest levels of safety.
Victory takes fire safety very seriously. All our multi-occupancy buildings are subject to an annual Fire Risk Assessment, and fire safety within buildings is regularly reviewed to ensure that they meet not just the current fire safety regulations, but good practice guidance as well.
Residents can help ensure fire safety in their building by working with us to ensure that communal areas are free of any personal belongings such as bicycles, prams, mobility scooters, furniture and rubbish, as well as co-operating with us to ensure that we can gain access to service appliances such as boilers on a regular basis. If we contact you about a specific fire safety issue in your building, please do take the matter seriously, as it is in everyone’s interest to reduce fire risk as far as possible.
