North Norfolk Community Fund Celebrates Ten Years

The Community Fund was set up in 2008 to support charities and voluntary organisations which are making a difference in local communities where our tenants live, and in the past decade it has supported a huge variety of initiatives. A panel of Victory tenants have made the decisions on grant applications. In total, Victory Housing Community Fund has awarded almost £500,000 to 168 local community projects via the Norfolk Community Foundation.

We are very proud of the difference that our Community Fund has made over the past decade, and we wanted to mark our tenth anniversary with something a bit special. So, in the latest round, we offered Charities, Community Organisations and Parish Councils the opportunity to apply for a share of an amazing £69,360!

In addition, we had two very special 10th anniversary grants of £10,000 which were awarded to SleepEast CIC (A sleep counselling programme to help families, particularly those with children with special needs, get a good night’s sleep) and Nelson’s Journey (A Norfolk charity that supports children and young people up to their 18th birthday who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life).  The panel felt these two projects had particular potential to help people who might be experiencing difficult situations due to bereavement or sleep issues. Such issues can have a profound effect on family life.

  • In total 135 different community groups (some groups have received more than 1 award over the 10 years – hence the difference from the 168 figure above) have received grants from the Victory Community Fund to date.
  • The Average grant size over 10 years = £2,956
  • 34 groups have received the maximum £5,000 award through the Community Fund
